Quietly Iconiq Font Maker — software notices and scope FONT OWNERSHIP Original lettering belongs to its creator. Quietly Iconiq does not add usage restrictions to fonts exported from original or properly licensed artwork. You are responsible for permission to use artwork you import. The optional Studio Script Demo uses original demonstration lettering supplied with this tool; you may use and modify that demo lettering, including commercially, without attribution. FREE LOCAL COMPILATION Fonts are compiled on your device. No font-generation API or subscription is used. The first build downloads Pyodide 0.29.2 and its FontTools package from jsDelivr. These download services receive ordinary connection information, not your project artwork. Internet access is needed for first load, and browser caching is not guaranteed. IMPLEMENTED FONT FEATURES Export: glyf-based TrueType (.ttf). No renamed image files or simulated fonts. Script: optional context substitutions (calt), ligature substitution (liga), manual alternates (salt), optional swashes (swsh), entry/exit cursive positioning (curs). The browser preview loads the same TTF bytes offered for download. Empty extra forms use the main letter. A ligature needs its individual base characters mapped in the font. Alternates are manually enabled, not randomized. Feature support and controls differ across apps. This editor focuses on left-to-right handwriting; it does not implement complex-language shaping. Original raster artwork is retained while smoothing, tracing, movement, scale, and slant are applied to exported outlines. There is no vector-node editor. Template import detects candidate square markers and requires the user to review alignment and the extracted cells. Photograph evenly lit white paper with dark ink, keep all four markers visible, and use the same project and page. Words can be drawn whole as ligatures or references; they are not automatically split into perfect individual letters. Connection anchors position glyphs but do not invent missing connecting strokes. Inspect joins and refine as needed. LIMITS AND LOCAL STORAGE Up to 400 selected characters and 800 saved forms per compiled font. Drawing artwork is stored on a 500 x 600 logical canvas per glyph; raster uploads are fitted to that canvas and traced into scalable vector outlines. Original uploaded artwork and template photos remain in the project backup. No account or cross-device sync. Projects remain in IndexedDB in this browser; clearing site data can remove them. Back up as JSON before switching devices. Project backup imports are limited to 50 MB. Single-character artwork uploads are limited to 12 MB; template uploads to 15 MB and 50 megapixels. Errors during compilation do not delete the source project. Font metrics expand to include outlines, but you should still inspect clipping in your target app.
